Hello to everyone,

While browsing a vendor's site, I came across this aircraft. I did some searching and the info I gathered said that it was an experimental remote-control flying bomb. However, the kits I have seen all show crew positions. Does anyone have any more info on this machine?

The kit is at www.umm-usa.com. Under the manufacturer's pull-down menu, select "Master-X".

I found some info in J.Thompsons book 'Italian Civil and Military Aicraft 1930-1945' (now OOP). AR stands for Assalto Radioguidato and was part designed by the SAI 207/403 designer, S.Stefanutti.

The aircraft needed a pilot to get it airborne, hence the crew position. Once radio control was established, he would bail out. 5 were built, but 4 of them were destroyed on the ground before testing could commence. Never actually used.

Its a large aircraft of very simple functional design, powered by a Fiat A80 engine. Its simple undercarriage would be jettisoned after take off.

The Kora 1/48th kit is not bad at all and shows just how big this aircraft was!

Hi Chris,

Thanks for the notes. I saw on another website that there were plans to use this plane in a "Mistel"-type arrangement with a Folgore or Centauro control plane. Might make an interesting "what-if" subject.

there is also a 1/72 kit from lf models (from web site of lf models: "Complete resin kit with decals, photo-etched parts, white metal parts, canopy", the kit has no. 7233. www.lfmodels.cz)
Some years ago wa s pubblisched on C.M.P.R. Magazine ad article on Kora models of A.R. .
During the war was builded only a two seat AR, never a mistel
