Macchi C.202 Folgore, 1/48 Hasegawa

Hallo, I´m back with my third Italian plane in 1/48 scale... I have used really good Hasegawa´s kit and Eduard´s photoetched parts. My build is going really quickly (only 3 days of easy ride...)

I have choosen this plane:
pilot tenente Giorgio Solaroli
74a Squadriglia, 23° Gruppo, 3° Stormo C.T., Abu Hagag base, 1942

cockpit is made from prepainted Eduard photoetched parts

wing and fuselage is glued together with CA glue "Flash" (it is really fast)

The photoetch interior looks great! I haven't yet seen this PE set availble here but I will certainly snatch-up as many as I can get.

I would like to more information about tenente Giorgio Solaroli. Thank you for your help!!!! I have one picture of his airplane from Squadron Signal In Action monograph (page 17) and color profile from Ali E Colori 004 - Aermacchi MC.202 (page 25). This is all of my sources about Solaroli´s plane.

Hi Kubrt,
Here is the story on Solaroli:
He was born in Turin, July 17, 1918. After finishing high school, he was admitted to the Royal Italian Air Force Academy in Caserta, 1937.
He frequented the Sparviero (Sparrow- Hawk) course and graduated.
He served with the 3rd Stormo, 23rd Gruppo, 74th Sq.
COMBAT RECORD from April 9, 1942-September 3, 1943

04-09-42 2 Curtiss P-40s 1 Curtiss P-40 N. Africa
08-01-43 Spitfire Tunisia
11-01-43 Spitfire Tunisia
21-11-43 P-38 Tunisia
04-02-43 B-26 Tunisia
23-03-43 Spitfire Tunisia
19-07-43 P-38 Italy
27-07-43 P-38 Italy
29-07-43 P-38 Italy
03-09-43 P-38 Italy

In addition to these 11 individual claims, he was credited with 5 shared victories and 7 probables.
His best day was on September the 4th, 1942 when he destoyed 2 Curtiss P-40s and damaged a third.
For this action he received a citation and was later promoted to CO of the 95th Sq.
The Armistice on September 8, 1943 put an end to the wartime career Solaroli. During the period that he served, he was awarded 2 silver Medals for Military valour, 1 bronze medal and three German Iron Cross EK2.
Solaroli was one of the highest scoring Aces in the Italian Air force and one of the highest flying the Macchi 202.

Yes, I used GSI paints. It is mixture C079 with C310 (2,5-3 part C310 + 1 part C079) and gray C324. Green blotches are mixture C038 + C018 (2 part C038 and 1 part C018).

And I forgot - author of this mixtures is Mirek "Glock" Říha from Prag, not me

He prepare table with mixtures of Italian colors from GSI Mr. Color and GSI Aqueous Hobby. He is my Italian "Guru"
