1/48 MC.202 Folgore, "Dai Banana", Hasegawa

Post by Lubos Pavel » Sat Oct 25, 2008 2:02 pm

I've started to build my next Macchi C.202. I love this kit. Hasegawa did an excellent work.
I use True Detail cocpit set as in the case of my first Macchi, some Ultracast details and some Eduard.

Beautiful job! The True Details resin cockpit really enhances the interior. I agree, Hasegawa did a terrific job with this kit.

The True Details resin cockpit is very easy to install itto the fuselage. I would like to try to use Jaguar cocpit set in the future and compare it vith TD set. Maybe in the hasegawa Veltro

The seat isn't necessary to place into the fuselage before its sealing. You can place it into the fuselage of almost finished model before the canopy. You can use the Ultracast seat instead of the True Detail without any correction of cocpit.

Very interesting, I didn't think of installing the seat afterwards, I think I'll try it ! I tried getting a load of the Juguar Cockpit sets but were sold out before I could order any - now long OOP.

The fuselage is just drying so I've started my work on the undercarriage bay. I decided to combine the Eduard PE parts for this part of the kit and the Skymodel (?) cover which was installed inside the fuselage on the Macchi late versions.

But I found I have to make some corrections to the cover set match exactly on the plase where he should come. The Eduard part is higher than orinal triangle which I removed. I was necessary to make 3 corrections.

1. Make it longer about 1 mm
2. Sharp the gap
3. Make brush down central triangle

and voilà here is the result of my endeavour

I hope this my step by step would be assisted to someone who wants to build the Macchi in the same way as me.

Landing gear bay cover

Post by Rick » Sun Oct 26, 2008 11:08 am

I think tha the covers provided by the kit are not correct; please, have a look at page 57 of the Ali d'Italia n°22 dedicated to C202 or at page 45 of Ali d'Italia n°2 (it is the same photo).

Yeah, you are right that the cover looks unlikely than on the photo in Ali D'Italia. But this layout of the cover is better than empty undercarriage bay.

btw. Can I see some photos of your kits? 8)

Yes Rick, the cover is not very deep (Lubos used Sky-model resin) but this is good (not the best) choice :D.. In the next Macchi Lubos will apply Jaguar "open" set  (only for Lubos - ze jo aspon bude mit radost  )

Post by Rick » Mon Oct 27, 2008 11:26 am

You can see my models here in the forum, the Hurricane Regia Aeronautica and the Me 110 Regia Aeronautica; in the section "Gallery" you can see a Fiat G50 and a C205 ANR; all the models are in 1/48 scale
